Wichita Wildlife Refuge Adventure Engagement Session in Lawton Oklahoma

Jordan & Shelby

Jordan and Shelby were high school sweethearts. Their love story began on the first day of class when Shelby switched schools — they became math partners & the rest is history!

Jordan proposed to Shelby by placing an engagement ring on her little dogs collar (so cute!!). They wanted a sweet photo session to commemorate their engagement. Jordan & Shelby love the outdoors, and are having a fairytale themed wedding. We decided to go to Wichita Wildlife Refuge in southwestern Oklahoma because of its lush, magical-feeling parallel forest, unique terrain, and gorgeous sunsets.

I packed a basket filled with their favorite snacks (popcorn & chips), created a fun playlist for the semi-lengthy drive, and picked up my sweet friends to photograph their engagement session. We started at the parallel forest with golden hour sunlight pouring in through the trees. All of the trees in there are six feet apart (it used to be a tree farm) which gives it a unique, fairy tale forest vibe. It’s also nice because there’s plenty of clear space to walk through and take photos.

Next, we drove to the top of Elk Mountain to take scenic sunset shots. I surprised them with a bottle of champagne to pop (tbh I don’t think an engagement session is complete without doing this!) which resulted in super fun shots. We continued until after the sun went down.

Jordan & Shelby are great friends of mine, and as always, I really enjoyed spending time with them. I’m so honored to have taken their engagement photos, and am excited to photograph their wedding too! ♥
